ALBUM REVIEW: Special - Lizzo

Written by

Overall:

I'm just gonna keep it a buck. This album is basically a fat girl empowerment album. If you are a fat girl that is having a hard time loving herself, there are a bunch of songs on here that you might like, but I don't know, I could be wrong. It's gonna be hard for most people to make it through all of these "feel sorry for me because I'm fat" songs, sorry to say. Plus, and as expected, she has a few songs pandering to the GBTQ communities, so a hardcore rap fan, such as myself, will probably have none of these songs on any of their playlists.

Lyrics:

A bunch of singing and rapping about the struggles of being fat. Not much lyrical depth here AT ALL. Imagine a "fat-focused" Missy Elliot, and you have Lizzo. Want to hear a bunch of songs about being fat and a few GBTQ friendly songs sprinkled in, this is the album for you.

Production:

Objectively speaking, the overall production is pretty good. Everything sounds clean and professional. I'm just disappointed in the depth of content.

Conclusion:

This is not an album I would recommend to the rap music fan that follows us here. This album is going to receive a 1 star rating from me to help ensure future rap music fans don't even bother listening to it. Definitely NOT worth the time, unless you are a sad fat or gay person. More indepth review is coming soon, unfortunately for me.
